A white horse,
One mountain, one house
“Why can't there be a house
— one you can't wait to come home to after a day on the slopes?”
In the winter of 2019, our founder climbed to the summit of Mt. Shirouma for the first time. Gazing over the snowfields stretching below, a simple question came to mind. He realized that for his ski-loving friends, the hardest part of every trip was never the snow — it was "staying somewhere uncomfortable": too far from the slopes, a cold room, or none of that warmth of coming home.
And so Hakupa was born. The name borrows from this valley's own name — Hakuba — and carries our simplest respect for snow country: like a white horse, clean, free, and true, keeping watch for every guest who travels far to be here.
Zero distance — ski in, ski out
Every Hakupa stay sits right beside the runs. Click into your skis at the door and go; ski home straight into the downstairs drying room. We give commuting time back to skiing itself.
A spring-like warmth inside
Whole-house underfloor heating comes as standard; a private onsen tub, fireplace, or sauna is the bonus. We want the moment you open the door to wrap you in warmth — the way a ski holiday should feel.
Every window frames a painting
Site, orientation, window placement — we design the view angle of every room with care. In Hakuba, you don't go out looking for scenery; the scenery walks into the house.
“We are not running a guesthouse — we are building a home skiers can return to.”
